Quail Hollow is a lovely little course out in the middle of nowhere. It is semi-private. It has 18 holes but is a little on the short side, yardage-wise. There are a number of par 4s where the smart play is an iron off the tee.

Rates range from $15 to $40 - you can even do 9 holes for $10 M-F if you walk. They have a variety of specials, depending if you're a lady, a senior, a foursome, and so on. Monday currently (2007) lists at $22 per person with a cart, plus a bottle of water.

There are plenty of relatively narrow holes, and some holes that have sand further away from the green. There's one interesting hole with a waste area, along the cart path. So while it looks like a sand trap, you don't get a penalty if your club touches there.
