On my first and final visit to JJ's (formally JJ O'Rourke's)I wnet for thier highly advertised Football Sunday. I brought a number of friends with me to thier bar area. The place is loaded with flat screen TVs and plasama TVs and one very impressive projection TV that we sat under so we couldnt really get much of a view. The Pats game started at 4 so we showed at 3 for an early dinner till the game started and then planned to stay for a few beers and leave after the 1st quarter. The bar area was elbow to elbow. It wasnt exactly the cleanest place considering there wasnt anywhere to walk its kinda tuff to keep clean during these peak hours. Bar tenders were great. Drinks mixed properly, not too heavy not too light. The biggest insult my friends and the entire bar area encountered was after about half an hour of being there they began serving the entire bar plastic cups! I haven't drank beer out of a plastic cup since High School and then it was $5 and free refills. At $5.35 per "plastic cup" of did I mention extremely warm Sam Adams, I found myself questioning what we were doing here. All the advertising on local TV and radio stations they apparently don't have enough money for ice and glasses. We had ordered clam chowder which was more like clam milk and water than anything else. Chicken Parm wasn't bad other than it came with spaghetti after ziti was requested. Mozzarella stciks were far over cooked and the sauce supplied was nuthing more than a thick tomato paste. Highly over priced and portions were moderate. It's safe to say this is definatly one of the many restaurants near the metro-west area that are striving to get the upper class crowds to pay the upper class prices and they can't even keep the middle class happy with a full crew serving nuthing more than what mostly seemed large beer orders for the bar. The restaurant was about 15-25% full at its highest point. Reportedly after speaking with a manager about the plastic cup and poor quality food his only response was "We ran out of glasses again, it happens every sporting event and you should have said somthing when you got your food not after". Again this was my first time and last time at this establishment.
